Galleria Himmelblau, Tampere
The Finnish Association of Textile Artists TEXO celebrates its 70th anniversary with a jubilee exhibition opening at Galleria Himmelblau on 12 April 2026. The exhibition is curated by Taina Myllyharju, MA, Curator at Rauma Art Museum.
The central theme of the anniversary exhibition is colour. Colour shapes texture, breathes within materials, and comes alive on constructed surfaces. Working with colour is a continuous interaction between material, environment, and viewer. Colours evoke physical sensations, influence spatial perception, and reflect lived time, while conveying cultural meanings and opening perspectives toward the future.
The exhibition presents approximately 50 works and series by 32 artists. It includes sketches, finished artworks, and commercial products, forming a layered and multidimensional whole across time and context. Alongside recent works, pieces from the 1990s are featured, offering insight into the evolution and continuity of textile art. The exhibition also includes Tampere väreilee, a work that forms the colour concept for the façade lamellas of the Tampere City Hall extension, linking the exhibition to public space design.
