In the Making: Glass Classics

18.9.2025–15.3.2026

The Finnish Glass Museum, Iittala

The Iittala Glass Museum’s winter exhibition delves into the secrets of glassmaking. Glassblowing is a vital part of our intangible cultural heritage, taking visible form in glass design and art. The exhibition showcases the making of iconic objects such as the Aalto vase by Alvar Aalto (1898–1976) and Tapio Wirkkala’s (1915–1985) Ultima Thule glassware series, alongside the tools used in glass production. Through exhibition videos, visitors can also hear directly from the makers themselves.

The exhibition, produced by the Finnish Glass Museum, features objects from the collections of both Iittala and the Finnish Glass Museum.
