Graphic Designer of the Year 2025: Päivi Helander

Päivi Helander’s award exhibition, “Lines Drawn in Time”, explores the experience of time and space. She examines the relationship between the built environment, nature, and humanity through design and text. Helander’s Graphic Designer of the Year 2025 exhibition will be on view at Grafia’s creative space, Luonnos, from September 20 to November 9, 2025.

The exhibition is divided into two main themes: aesthetic immersion and the power dynamics between nature and humanity. The works engage with the colors of Louhisaari, bird paintings in the staircase vaults, the garden, the reed beds along the shore, and the receding shoreline. Forms emerge from the experience of space, and materials draw inspiration from the textures and surfaces of nature. The exhibition as a whole forms an installation where visitors can pause to read essays reflecting on and interpreting the experiences evoked by Louhisaari. The essays are compiled in an exhibition publication designed by Helander, to be released on October 9, 2025.
