Designs for a Cooler Planet 2026

Aalto University’s largest annual exhibition, Designs for a Cooler Planet, points towards the future this autumn. The exhibition presents more than 20 practical solutions, experiments and ideas developed by researchers and students.

The exhibition explores topics ranging from the circular use of materials and sustainable architecture to the energy transition, emerging technologies and sustainable fashion. Featured projects include bio-based materials, textiles made from recycled fibres, dyes derived from agricultural waste, seaweed-based alternatives to plastics, and new approaches to wood and construction. The exhibition also highlights projects that apply design to challenges such as immigrant employment, healthcare and public decision-making..
