Playful New Finnish Design
15. -18.5.2009, Gansevoort Plaza, New York, NY 10014PLAYFUL New Finnish Design presents fresh concepts from individual designers and design companies during Meatpacking District Design Week, held May 15–18, 2009. PLAYFUL New Finnish Design exhibits new innovations from Finland with a focus on play and creativity as elementary forces in human life. Emphasizing quality of life, green solutions, and life-long learning, PLAYFUL presents a range of insightful solutions by forward-thinking designers and companies. The underlying themes – environment & innovation, and creativity & education – are highlighted by a series of events, a seminar and workshops for both adults and children.
The event is organized by Design Forum Finland; the Consulate General of Finland, New York; and the Finnish Cultural Institute in New York in collaboration with the Meatpacking District Initiative and Abe NYC, Inc.

Snowball / Finnish-Chinese Design Industry Event
3.-5.11.2009 ShanghaiOn November 3–5, Design Forum Finland will arrange a Finnish-Chinese design event in Shanghai in support of the export of Finnish design and related business opportunities, to create contacts, to improve the visibility of Finnish design in the Chinese market, and to increase Finnish awareness of China.
This three-day seminar is primarily intended for Finnish companies participating in the Shanghai World Fair, but also other firms and companies beginning operations in China or interested in doing so are welcome. Chinese participants include an impressive array of representatives of design, fashion, architecture, advertising and the media. Participation in the seminar will be free of charge but the participants have to pay for their own travel and accommodation costs. CSR-Driven Innovation
01.01.2008- 31.08.2009"CSR-driven innovation – Combining design and business in a profitable and sustainable way" is a joint Nordic research and development project addressing responsibility driven innovation and design.
